BSc Agriculture is a 4 year undergraduate course that primarily focuses on research and practices in agricultural science, dealing with disciplines like Genetics and Plant Breeding, Agricultural Microbiology, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, etc.It is a professional degree recognized by the Government of India in the field of agricultural science. This course aims to provide training to implement modern agricultural techniques and technologies in the real world scenario.

B.Sc. Agriculture syllabus is broad and consists of various courses in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Agricultural Economics, Extension Education, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science, Animal Husbandry apart from supporting courses in Basic Sciences, Humanities, and Agricultural Engineering.The basic B.Sc. Agriculture subjects are designed in such a way that students grasp all the knowledge related to agriculture and environmental science. The course has specializations like majoring in Animal Science, Plant Protection, Soil Science, Genetics and Breeding or Agricultural Engineering.

Future Prospects

After B.Sc. Agriculture, one may also go for M.Sc. Agriculture and take up a teaching job, or even go for Ph.D. and build a career in the Research sector associated with the field of Agriculture.
